ERNIE'S FAMILY in the snow

It's been quite awhile since I posted any photos from my secret passion...Ernie. I still have some photos of Ernie to post and they will trickle in, but once they're gone.... I have not found any new Ernie snapshots in a long time. I have bought up most of what I found of his daughter.

Today I give you Ernie's family in the snow in their neighborhood; they lived in a trailer. Other than saying they lived in a trailer I know nothing of their living situation.

I do have to say I once saw a guy on Pawn Stars that could have passed for an old Ernie. It had me wondering and I kept it on my DVR for quite awhile. Eventually I accidentally deleted it. Still, I like to think of Ernie spending his later years someplace warm.

ERNIE'S DAUGHTER Ready to Clean Up

I don't have a lot of photos of Ernie that you haven't seen, but I do have a lot of his daughter. I figured they should be part of the Ernie collection since either he or his wife took them. Here we have Ernie's daughter in the early 1960s at Christmas time. She's ready and waiting to clean things up once the package hurrah has taken place.

ERNIE'S family goes camping

Though I still have many Ernie photos stashed away I don’t think I’ll ever find another one at the antique store. That saddens me. I enjoy coming upon new parts of Ernie’s life.

Here is an aspect I had not expected. Ernie and family went camping. This is his wife and young daughter. I’d say the wife was pregnant with child number two, Ernie’s son.

I will occasionally add more photos online to the Ernie collection. To see more from Ernie’s life click on “Ernie” in the labels below.

ERNIE with his daughter

My time continues to be consumed with caring for my father. A week spent driving back and forth, back and forth each day to the hospital wore me out. The stress of his illness and uncertainty of the future has me thinking back on my childhood and better times.

My father has always been a loving man and my champion.

Here is another photo of Ernie with his daughter. I hope they shared an enduring bond.

ERNIE at rest

The holidays are over and Ernie needs some rest.

CHRISTMAS: Ernie's Family and HUCKLEBERRY HOUND

I'm just thinkin', which in my case is probably not advisable (too many brain cells about to be damaged) and I'm a wonderin' if these here kiddies liked Huckleberry Hound why would they want to pummel him? Bozo I can understand, but Huckleberry is just a very relaxed guy and you know he's not gonna be a hittin' back.

CHRISTMAS: ERNIE'S children

For those who follow this site you'll know my fascination of a fellow I've named Ernie. Christmas Eve 2010 was when I first found photos of Ernie. Over the months this year I found more. I went back to the antique store the other day, Christmas Eve, and found another. Today I went back and found a few more. The seller has obviously torn apart an old photo album because many of the shots I found of Ernie and his family have glue on the back and photo corners. That makes me sad. I wish the album had been left intact. I could have had Ernie's life unfold before me instead of fits and starts. Oh well. At least I found a few more shots. I wonder who else has collected shots of him?

Ernie's daughter and son possibly taken by Ernie.

CHRISTMAS: Ernie RAPIDLY UNWRAPPING...

We'll never know what Ernie was unwrapping. A shot taken the same year as the Ernie Christmas shots last year.

Let's hope Ernie had a Merry Christmas and I'm sure he'd be wishing you the same. He's just that kind of guy.

CHRISTMAS: Ernie's SWEETHEART

They seem to have lived in a trailer, single wide. Two adults and two children.

CHRISTMAS: Opening packages with ERNIE

It's that time of year when we either gather with family and friends or make up an excuse to run full tilt in the other direction.

Here we have our friend Ernie gathering with one or the other. I'm guessing family. Ernie at Christmas; we've seen this before.

Ernie is a favorite "category" of mine only available at one antique store. Every time I go to the store I hope to find a new image of Ernie. Just when I think I've found the last another one pops up. Keeps me going back. And each time I leave the store I fear I will never find another image of Ernie, another moment captured in his life.

Last year I featured 4 posts in a row following Christmas called "One Man's Christmas." You can see part 1 here, 2 here, 3 here, and 4 here. I'd found all of these images on Christmas Eve. Perhaps I need to stop by the store this Christmas Eve to see if Ernie is there celebrating.

There will be more of Ernie this week. Think of it as a buffet of Ernie and that's about as close as I can get to this weeks Sepia Saturday theme which means I'm not on theme at all.

Really, there's nothing to say. It's Ernie. Welcome back Ernie.

SAY GOODBYE TO ERNIE for now

This is the last of Ernie until the holiday season since the other photos are pretty much Christmas shots, including one showing his wife.

So we leave Ernie sitting on the stoop with his daughter; perhaps a bit confused as to what the future holds for him.

Bye-bye Ernie. Bye-bye.

Ernie: FATHER AND CHILD

The more I see of Ernie the more I adore him.

While I was sorting through some of the photos of him last night, getting them ready to post, I had an old Everly Brothers album on. I was transported back to the late '50s and early '60s; Ernie's time period.

He's the young man who would have never made it on Bandstand, but loved going to school dances, but was then too quiet with girls to ask anyone to dance. Then at a young age he fell in love hard, got married, had babies, and wondered what happened. The gold ring passed him by like it does for most of us.

Even if Ernie doesn't smile he makes me smile.

Ernie WITH CHILD

Perhaps this is Ernie with his first born. All indications from all photos I've seen is that this is probably his baby girl. He looks concerned, a little confused.

More Ernie tomorrow.

Ernie with his CHINCHILLAS

So what's the story of Ernie with the chinchillas? Did he:
a. have pet chinchillas?

b. get roped into a get rich quick scheme?
c. manage a chinchilla apartment complex?
I'll let you decide.

HE'S Baaaaaaack!

Anybody remember Ernie; the centerpiece to "One Man's Christmas" (here, here, here, and here) that I posted at the end of last year? Well, I'm pleased to announce there is more Ernie. I went back to the antique store where I found the initial 4 shots and found an additional 13. There were more shots of his kids, but those I left in the box. When it gets down to counting pennies after sorting through two boxes for several hours I end up having to whittle down my ultimate "want" pile. The kids are back in the box.

Ernie at a younger age happy with his Parcheesi gift. I once had the very same board, though there are no photos proving it as there is with Ernie.

ONE MAN'S CHRISTMAS: Part 4

And on the last day Ernie rested, unsure if anyone appreciated anything he'd done. With all the toys he bought his son it ends up the kid prefers the hassock. Oh well, tomorrow he goes back to work where he knows he's not appreciated.

And so we come to the conclusion of One Man's Christmas here at Sepia Saturday.

ONE MAN'S CHRISTMAS: Part 3

Ernie with his amazing gift, a Polaroid camera. Now for some quiet time to sit and read the manual. Ernie is content with his Christmas...for the moment, until the manual becomes too complicated.

This is part 3 of a 4 part Sepia Saturday post.

ONE MAN'S CHRISTMAS: Part 2

This fellow, we will now call him Ernie, is trying so hard. The child in snapshot 1 was sitting and staring at the bedsheet covering the table beneath the Christmas tree. We now find Ernie trying to give her encouragement that domestic toys are fun.

Come back tomorrow to see more of One Man's Christmas.

This is part 2 of a 4 part Sepia Saturday post.

ONE MAN'S CHRISTMAS: Part 1

Was your Christmas good or bad, or are you still trying to figure that out? Sometimes it takes time to digest not only the meal, but the emotions of the day.

Starting today I present to you One Man's Christmas in 4 parts. I know nothing about this fellow other than the prints were made in 1966. It's possible this is his 1965 Christmas.

I will let you figure out the story.

Be sure to come back the next three days to see his story unfold.

This series will be my contribution to the latest Sepia Saturday.
