The Party's OVER

In keeping with this Saturday's Sepia Saturday prompt I give you my take on the revelers.

The party is over and the women have excused themselves to the kitchen where they make in depth small talk (they do it, seriously, it's in depth) over the cold cuts...

while the men...well, the men haven't quite stopped partying. They can tell it to the judge in the morning.

STYLIN'

It's always sad to find an image like this with such damage, but it's nice knowing that it can be easily fixed with Photoshop. She's shop worn and was tossed aside. I liked her and respected what she was doing. She was stylin'!

Sweet ADOLESCENCE

There's something in the tilt of her head, the look in her eyes, that is older than her years. A beautiful girl from long ago alone in a photobooth. It would be so nice to see the other shots in the series to see if she looked more like a child. I have no information about her.

The Ed Grimley INFLUENCE ON HAIRSTYLES

Could it be that Ed Grimley influenced hairstyles? Or was Ed influenced by this once "popular" style? Was it once in one of those hairdo magazines? If you wanted this style what did you ask for? Was there a name? Perhaps it was merely called Hair Bulb from the Latin Hairous Bulbous.

She's just SO DOGGONE HAPPY!

Was it the new hat? Was it the surprise of the flash? Was there someone outside the booth telling jokes? Or did she just want a really nice picture to send her sweetheart?

Whatever was going on THIS WOMAN WAS REALLY HAPPYI! Sadly her happiness was sold for 25 cents. I couldn't resist her when I found her smiling up at me in the bin of useless pose for grandma shots.

I hope she brings a smile to you on this Monday morning.

REMEMBER me?

This lady was the featured post on January 8th of 2014. It was quite a surprise to find another shot of her. It's always nice to find a shot of someone you've seen before. I still long to find more shots of Ernie, but there haven't been any in years. I keep my hope that someday he'll smile back at me from the vintage suitcase at the antique store.

If you don't know Ernie simply do a search for him in the search widget in the left column. I think he's worth it.

SNAIL MAIL can be the best surprise

On January 11th of this year I posted this photo as an example of another Time-Traveling-Celebrity. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this dapper gentleman looks like actor Alan Cumming. The photo was available on ebay and when it sold to someone I hoped it had gone to a good home, someone who appreciated the fact that Alan Cumming had been caught in the past while researching a role or possibly just taking an unusual vacation. I think you might figure out where this is going.

To say the least I was dumbstruck when I opened my mail several weeks ago and found Alan looking up at me. Katherine from Photobooth Journal had bought him for me. I'm still stunned by it. It was such an incredibly kind thing to do and I've told her so several times. So again, thank you Katherine, you're a very special lady.

So Alan has been added to my Time-Traveling collection. It's so much fun to find someone sneaking around in the past thinking they'll get away with it. Being a celebrity has so many perks we lowly unknown will never experience. I'm at least happy that some of them have been caught.

And visit Katherine and enjoy her 41 year Photobooth Project. She has a wonderful collection from her own life and tons of fun images of all those lovely people from the past.

SOME LIKE IT HOT it's not

This photobooth shot is one from my book Tattered and Lost: Telling Stories. I know there's a story here about these two good ol' gals. Personally I can't get past the Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon vibe from Some Like it Hot, one of my favorite movies. The one on the right is about to break out the maracas and dream of her future with Joe E. Brown.

If you're a fan of photobooth shots visit Photobooth Journal where you'll find lots of wonderful images from a woman who has been collecting for years. She recently did a post about some of the images I've posted from my small photobooth collection.

Time-Traveling-Celebrity ALAN CUMMING

This is a different sort of post for me in that I'm posting an image for sale on ebay. I've no extra cash to buy it, but this one fits my category "Time-Traveling-Celebrities" so perfectly. It pains me to think someone else will eventually own it, but it will now forever be linked with the rest of the celebrities who thought they could get away with sneaking around in the past without being caught.

I give you Alan Cumming, Time-Traveling-Celebrity.

You can find the item here on ebay. The seller has it listed as "Guy in Tie and Hat." Yeah, sure. We know what's going on and I think Mr. Cumming is happy to have been caught.

Sorry Alan, someone other than I will have to take you home.

If you're not acquainted with this peculiar category simply click on "time-traveling-celebrity" in the labels below.

ALONE in the booth

What was she thinking when the flash went off? Did she later regret not taking the purse strap off her shoulder? Did she wonder who the person was who preceded her in the booth who'd worn the floral blouse?

12/8/13

Photobooth GIRLFRIENDS

So, did he push the first one out of the booth real fast so the second could get in? Was he a photobooth lothario?

Arms and Legs AWKWARD

The last of the little prints, and this one is odd. An arm and leg looking not quite right.

The RAY BRADBURY small photobooth shot

As WJY pointed out, these little photobooth shots are in reality more likely small proofs from a professional studio. But Mike Brubaker has decided they're from a Ray Bradbury magic photobooth that took magical pictures. In this case...hmmmm...it's possible these folks aren't even actually from our universe.

Human or terrestrial? You be the judge.

Small PHOTOBOOTH SHOTS

Is the little fellow on the right called One Pocket Polka Dot Pete?

Small PHOTOBOOTH SHOT

Did the woman on the right have a sign outside the photobooth saying, "Will be in your picture for a dollar." Did she spend her days inside the booth allowing people who had no one to have a photo taken with someone? I'm guessing these were taken during the depression so really, who knows?
