The rubble at BADEA Bahrain
The caption on this slide says "Badea Bahrain 57." I did a brief search and didn't find anything specific about Badea, but Bahrain was involved in World War II on the Allied side so this rubble may be the result of bombing. I really don't know. Hopefully a wiser person will come along to provide the real story.

I wonder if this was an place called Badea or if it was being redeveloped by the Banque Arabe de Developpement Economique en Afrique (Badea).
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question because I did read about the BADEA bank. I just don't know.
Delete1957 was evidently a big year for Bahrain. Britain, in order to keep the Persian Gulf open, was trying to counter Iran's claim that Bahrain was part of Persia. The dispute was submitted to the UN which held a plebiscite and Bahrain voted for an Arabic rather than Persian future.
ReplyDeleteI might never look this up if it weren't for Donald's fascinating slide show. Pictures are easily worth 1000 words.
Ah, that's interesting.
DeleteYes, I wouldn't have looked up anything about Bahrain if it weren't for Donald's snapshots. More to come.
