THE CAT THAT SAT with ma and pa

So, do you think this is a candid shot or staged? How many times did they have to chase Whiskers around the room before getting it to sit still with the ball of yarn?

Click on image to see it larger.

Why is Ma smiling?

Why is Pa not smiling?

What is the cat thinking?

No information about these people, but I do wonder about the cryptic piece of paper under Pa's rocker. Is Pa about to go off his rocker?

    1. Oh indeed. My mom would have loved it too. I have a small black one my dad got in probably Hong Kong around 1945. Of course as a kid I played with it, dropped it, and one of the ivory tusks fell out. It's not broken, it's just loose. So you could say the elephant has a loose tooth.

  2. There are too few of these family photo portraits from early times. Indoor photography was rare. This certainly is a good one. Lots to look at.

    1. It is so much fun to look at the details. I have another shot of relatives in Scotland in their home that has always fascinated me. Other than that, I've never found this sort of portrait.
