I don't have the roller skates I had in the 1950s -- but I still have my roller skate key! Many roller skates were not of the shoe type but instead were designed to clamp onto the soles of one's own shoes. So one needed a roller skate key to adjust those clamps.
ReplyDeleteAh, how lucky to have saved the key. I always wonder what happened to mine because I know I still had it long after the clamp on skates were gone. And oh my, if you wore the clamp ons with PF Flyers or Keds. Always had to be a heavy leather shoe.
DeleteMost of the time I wore black, high-top Keds but for roller skating I had an old pair of leather shoes.
