A lovely image with only the following information written on the back:
Ozzie & Betty June 1935 on way to Lemmon to get marriedI don't know, but to me they look like 1930s movie stars. It's hard to think of it as a casual snapshot. It's all so perfect.
1935, the Depression. 7 years before we entered the war. What did the future hold for these two? We'll never know. Like movie stars in fictional stories, we can make up any fate we choose for these two.
Another Sepia Saturday submission.
love this post. the way they are positioned in the photo against the car is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI agree! They look like moviestars! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou find such amazing photographs! I wonder in what state Lemmon is. It would be interesting to find the marriage record for this couple and follow them - though probably hard to do from 1935 forward. It's a great photograph though I agree that it almost looks posed.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are almost too good to be true.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous. So sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, very Hollywood! Their smiles are just so perfect (a little smirky perhaps).
ReplyDelete"Ozzie" is just so indicative of the time too.

A delightful Picture and a beautiful couple. Yes, one wonders what the future held and was for this young happy looking couple. Great find!
ReplyDeleteIt does look sort of like a "posed candid" shot, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteCould it be Lemmon South Dakota? It is just a little town. Fantastic photo! :)
ReplyDeleteIt does look posed which it probably was but then they just fell into it naturally.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea where Lemmon could be. Photo bought in California but that means nothing. Wonder how many Lemmon's there are in this country. Whoa, that's a loaded question.
indeed they look like getting ready for their next take. but life is not a movie... great find though!!
ReplyDelete:)~
