Put the Doll IN THE CART
I find this to be an odd looking doll. I'm thinking it's because there isn't much depth to the sculpting. Sort of a creepy doll, but this little girl is clearly happy so what do I know?
Here's your task, if you choose to accept it. What is the doll sitting in? I know what I think it is, but I'm hoping someone else can confirm it. Someone wiser than me, which means most of the human race.

Looks like a wheeled electric chair to me, particularly with the leather strapping ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I was hoping for something a bit less painful.
DeleteHaha - Well, yes, I think you're probably right, that's just the first thing that struck me when I saw it.
DeleteFirst impressions are lasting ones so I'm stuck with thinking the doll is sitting in a dog sulky. The little girl should indeed be happy, since she must have been one of the "chosen ones." Only an upper class family could afford such expensive playthings as a dog sulky and that enormous doll.
ReplyDeleteI think it is "just" an old wheelchair. Probably a collectors item or museum piece now.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with Felix on this one because I do think it's some sort of little cart that was pulled by a small animal. He says a dog and that sounds about right. I also can imagine a goat.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the sulky idea, but I'd expect a goat in harness rather than a dog. There are an amazing number of vintage photos of children sitting in goat carts. Not so many with dogs.
