This little photo of a medal is in a small album that belonged to a military man. I've shown photos of him, Mr. Roberts, in the past in Yosemite and elsewhere.
Click on image to see it larger though I have no idea why.
When I was at his home for the estate sale there was a whole room full of things from his years in the Coast Guard. Lots of film he shot in Alaska in the 1930s in cans that I would have loved to have bought. Medals, flags, and papers. I stood in the room and looked around at his life, trying to take it all in. He'd been on many adventures. I settled for a stack of photos and one small album that contains this shot.
I do not know what the medal represents. The photo is very very small and stuck on a page of Mr. Roberts with different women. Oh, and a shot of a parrot is next to the medal.
Medals and parrots, pretty much the same thing.

ReplyDeleteThat's very true.
I’ll think about that the rest of the day.
Perhaps the parrot was awarded the medal, Or the man also won the parrot.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm...perhaps the parrot sitting on the fellows shoulder bent over and ate the medal and all the man had left was the blurry shot of his medal. Culprit and food adjacent in album, incident never to be forgotten. Parrot flew away. Medal and parrot lost at sea. Pure speculation on my part.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to go to more estate sales. I need stuff like this.
ReplyDeleteMoney is the only thing keeping me away. I love estate sales but have not been going in fear of actually spending the cash. I'm hoping things pick-up enough that I can again head out early Friday mornings for sites unseen.
