As soon as I saw the image for Sepia Saturday this week I knew exactly which photo I needed to feature. The problem…where did I put it?
This real photo post card is from a collection of cards that belonged to my Scottish maternal grandmother. There is nothing written on the back so I have no idea who any of these folks are. I am guessing it was taken in Scotland. Perhaps some of these people were friends of my grandmother; none of them look familiar.
There are a lot of stories here that we'll never know, but oh my it is fun to speculate.

DeleteDid you remember the photo for British soldiers or the doughnuts? For soldiers back from the front, canteens were and are a place of normality. Coffee, cake, and checkers without random violence.

I can't tell if that's a hat or her hair. I first got this card when I was a kid and that woman has always fascinated me.

DeleteA most interesting photo - I wonder where in Scotland this is - there couldn't have been to many YMCAs there back in the 1940s.

My grandparents lived in Motherwell before emigrated to California, but grandma used to ride her bicycle to Edinburgh all the time. So I'd say we can take our pick.

These were great fun to see! Reminded me of when my family still owned property in Motherwell and the funny stories involved with my dad and uncle working long distance with the Scottish agent.
