BIG WHEEL Keep on Turnin'

Anyone have any idea what sort of boat he might be steering? And I'm guessing he's actually holding part of the braking system.

  1. A super occupational snap! I think the size of that wheel is typical of a big river steamboat. His hand controls the engine power or the paddle wheels. And the lever above his head likely blew the whistle.

    1. I was thinking this too. He made me think of Mark Twain.

  2. Looks like a paddle wheel steamboat to me. They had huge steering wheels back in the days before power steering.
