When I found this image I read the back and immediately put it back in the box because it hurt too much. I didn't want this story following me around. But then I thought about it and realized I was the very person who should have it because I would always remember Spottie.

Though this photo has nothing to do with the Sepia Saturday theme this week I just wanted to post and say I will be posting several theme photos this month so check back in once in a while. I have some very nice wedding shots that I purchased when I thought it was a category I'd like to collect. Well, I lost interest pretty fast because I realized the only thing that interested me were the gowns. That being said, I do have a few odd wedding images I think you'll enjoy. So come back in the coming weeks.

Nice to see Spottie and I look forward to your odd wedding photos.
ReplyDeleteYou're bound to enjoy at least one of the wedding shots.
DeleteI'm assuming Spotty was poisoned by something neighbors who don't like dogs set out? However it happened, how very sad such an innocent little life was lost so soon.
ReplyDeleteOr he could have been poisoned by something at home. I can remember decades ago that it seemed fine to give dogs chocolate. Now there's a whole list of foods and plants I keep tacked inside a cupboard. Raisins! Who knew raisins were poisonous to dogs, but they are. So it could have just been an accident.
DeleteSuch a cute photo - so sad the doggy died not long afterwards.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I initially put it back; I didn't want to be reminded of the sad story. But the little guy needed to be remembered.
DeleteVery sad story. I had thought of neighbors right off but you're right - there are so many things we didn't know were poisonous to dogs.
ReplyDeleteAnd how many people have looked back and had to deal with the heartbreak knowing they'd accidentally poisoned their pet. A horrible thought.
DeleteSpottie seems that he was a feisty guy. He looks to be giving the animal (cat?) in the door a piece of his mind. I'm glad you shared even though his life was short.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Spottie had the same relationship with the cat that my dog has with one of my cats. They constantly tease each other just to the point of annoyance.
DeleteI think giving Spottie a proper memorial on the internet earns you extra Karma points. It's a shame the cat didn't get any credit as vintage cat & dog snapshots are rare.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I knew when I bought Spottie for 50 cents he would need to be shared.
DeleteMaybe this picture is something for an RSPCA campaign.
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting idea.
DeleteHow nice that Spottie has been immortalised.
ReplyDeleteI thought he deserved it and to not just end up in the trash.
DeleteNow Spottie will be remembered by many. That was your job. Good work.
