My submission for Sepia Saturday are amateur portraits of women. I'm especially drawn to shots of woman with textured backgrounds. That's as deep as I'll get this week other than to say many women go through life feeling invisible. It doesn't get any better as they get older. You can imagine these women fading into their backgrounds.

I tend to think the expressive poses say that numbers two and three were women who let their opinions be known. But it would be hard to beat that third background! It certainly wouldn't be used for a man, or a child.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought it looks like a heavy rug because I just can't imagine wallpaper with THAT pattern. Her hair disappears into it.
DeleteThe first one, maybe fading into the background. The second might reach out and give you a good shake and the third looks like she could handle anything.
ReplyDeleteThe last two do look like they didn't take guff from anyone.
Deleteor the background fades into us...?
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the first gal, but the other two looked very bound and determined about something!
ReplyDeleteDetermined! That's it. They are definitely determined and pity the poor photographer.
DeleteI guess patterned wallpaper does tend to have that effect, but the three women you show all look like strong characters.
ReplyDeleteI only wish I had names to go with them so I could research a bit about who they really were.
DeleteWallpaper...boy, it can be so distracting! You're right, of course; women disappear into the background. Powerful statement, powerful photographs.
ReplyDeleteI feel like that first woman has more than once been verbally beat down. I think the other two look like they'd grab a rolling pin should anyone try.
