CAUGHT in the doorway

Do their faces say, "Beware! Don't come any closer?" or is this the face they use to say, "Ya'al come on in!" There's no signage to indicate what this place might be, but if you look closely you can see that once you go through these doors there are more doors inside. Worthy of some stories for sure.

My submission this week for Sepia Saturday with the theme of standing a doorway. To see a couple of young ladies in a doorway of a candy shop click here.

  1. A perfect choice. Looks 1880s-90s. Could it be a mom & pop door shop?

  2. It's a great photograph. She is saying come on in, but I fear he is saying " on your way, stranger"

  3. I don't think those are doors behind doors. I think those are drawers behind doors.

    1. There's a door handle inside. You can see it in the lower right pane on the left door.

  4. Another good example of the 'hazards' of cropping - you miss the whole story!

  7. Neither of them look too friendly to me. Not sure what that is on the left, either on the window or inside - is it a bottle in a wicker basket?

  8. They both look rather uncomfortable in front of the camera, but what an intriguing shot.

  9. Yes, he does seem a bit standoffish, and she rather reminds me of someone in my own family. I do like this doorway too!

  10. It's a great photo.
I think we tend to forget that this generation wasn't brought up to 'smile for the camera'.
