And you were right about the resemblance of my Omaha theater and the Egyptian set for DeMille's 1923 film. Cinemas were once temples of fantasy where people expected grandiose spectacle.

At least some of the old theaters have been saved. I hate new theaters because you feel like you're in the front row no matter where you sit. Everything is ramped up but in a tacky way.
