There is something quite compulsive about viewing other people's photographs - it is like seeing into their personality. Give me a box of slides or a file of negatives and I will tell you about the man/woman.
I don't think it's him. The people who took the photos lived back in Connecticut or Massachusetts, I can't remember which. Hal shows up in several other shots. I believed he lived on a farm.
Since Hal was the gun shooter, who was the camera shooter? Something about the quality and sequence of the photos suggests a magazine article. Perhaps a professional photographer?
The photos were taken by a man named Don. All of the photos came from his daughter's estate. He made guns, I think as a hobby. I think he worked for an oil company. And she was a crack shot.

ReplyDeleteIt is sort of voyeuristic.
DeleteDistinguished looking dude. I love the shades of green in the photo.
ReplyDeleteIs Hal Powers his "real" name?
Yup, Hal Powers is written on the slide.
DeleteThe 1940 California Voter Rolls list a Hal J Powers, living in Los Angeles at 229 South Admore Avenue and working as a bartender.

DeleteInteresting. I just posted an image of a piece of billhead and letterhead for a fellow who WAS a Shooter. So - why do you think this guy is a Shooter?
ReplyDeleteDave, you've got to look at the three previous posts. Ready, aim, and fire.
DeleteMy Shooter used torpedos and nitroglycerin. LOL. Nothing to see here - Move along. Ready, aim, fire!
