I spen...Well I'm envious of your extended stay. I spent a month with a rental car and my maps and books. Had a fantastic time going to lots of stately homes and castles. I don't remember the downstairs ever being part of any tour. Well, except at Carlisle Castle where you could go into the jail cells. Many years ago I decided to take a ...I have indeed. Many years ago I decided to take a three month holiday in Britain based largely on what I knew from the series Upstairs Downstairs. (which I think was much better than D.A.) For the first few weeks, I even stayed in a B&B around the corner from the Bellamy house in South Kensington. I became such an Anglophile I ended up staying nearby in Earls Court for over 2 years. It was how I met the English woman who is now my wife, and the person in charge of correcting my grammar, spelling, and pronunciation, among my many other colonial shortcomings.
