SISTER WIVES and the horse

As soon as my best friend saw this vintage snapshot she said, "Sister wives!" I think she's right. This image is calling out for a short story. Should you write one send me a copy to post. There's more going on here than what we see.

This is my contribution to Sepia Saturday this week.

  1. Just wondering where you obtained this photo? Several of the ladies look like ancestors of mine. Does the lady on the left have thick ankles? I cannot make them out.

    1. Found at an antique store. And no, the one on the left doesn't have particularly thick ankles. Actually she almost looks like she's floating with no feet!

    2. And I forgot to say the store is in California.

    3. Definitely can't be my family but the similarities are uncanny. I think I will have to do a post about the family so you can see for yourself.

    4. They're sort of generic looking people. They all look alike which means they look like a lot of other people too.

I'll look forward to your post.

  2. HA - yes, great title! I wonder how that one sister wife hopped up on that horse. She doesn't look particularly athletic or agile.

  3. I wonder how they decided who got to sit astride the horse and who went at which end.

  4. Is that father in the background? What is going on here, anyway?

    1. If it is the father he has much vigor because he seems younger than the majority of the sister wives. That might explain a lot.

  5. Very interesting, I'd also love to see a story attached to this photo.

  6. I like how the guy is leaning to get his head under the horse's neck and into the photo!

    1. They look a bit like chess pieces in some sort of weird game.

  7. Now that's an interesting photo. What is going on here. They look like most unlikely riders in their dresses. Fascinating.

  9. Interesting---and now I want the real ladies (or their descendants to show up and tell us the real story.

  10. That is a rather oddly possed assemblage - I trust you have the story all formulated in your head?

  11. Well they are definitely related and I am sure the one at the back has a tale (tail) to tell!

    1. Indeed! Not the part of the horse I'd choose to stand near.

  12. It's definitely an unusual photo. The people in back look too small and far away, but there doesn't appear to be much space between the foreground and background.
